We are delighted to share the success of the first-ever Flower Avenue Together Block Party, held on June 1st! Sponsored by Amber Flynn / Healing Practice Counseling, the Purple Line Transit Partners, Discover Long Branch, and the local Takoma Park Ward 5, Long Branch, and Flower Avenue communities, this event brought together over 250 members of our vibrant community for a day of celebration, connection, and fun.

Event Highlights:
Special Guests: We were honored by the presence of Talisha Searcy, Mayor of Takoma Park, and David Moon, Maryland State Delegate. Their participation added a significant touch of community spirit and support to the event. Incredible Performances: The event featured mesmerizing performances by the Tiger Dancers from Rolling Terrace, enchanting Irish dancers, and impressive demonstrations from local Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Each performance highlighted the diverse talents within our community.
Sticker Contest: Our youth shone brightly in the first-ever Flower Avenue Together sticker contest winner Danait Mekonner and her father attneded, which focused on themes of diversity and inclusion. The creativity and artistic talent displayed were truly inspiring.
Community Engagement: The block party was a fantastic opportunity for neighbors to connect, enjoy a variety of food from local vendors such as Mansa Kunda Restaurant and Koma Cafe, and groove to live music. The celebration of the Purple Line coming on Flower Avenue is sure to add an extra layer of excitement and anticipation for the future of our community.
