TY A. ROBINSON

Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
Ed.M., LGPC

I believe that healing begins with a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship.  As a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor working toward licensure in Washington, DC, and in Maryland, I recognize that each individual’s journey is unique. No single approach to therapy can fully capture the richness of your lived experience, culture, and identity. That’s why I tailor treatment to honor your personal goals and needs, creating a space where you feel heard, valued, and supported.

My approach to therapy is centered on compassion, authenticity, and collaboration. Together, we will explore your experiences without judgment, develop deeper emotional awareness, and engage in holistic healing that fosters self-discovery and self-acceptance. With a master’s degree in counseling from Boston University and advanced training in counseling psychology, I have had the privilege of working with adolescents, young adults, and adults—particularly those who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or belong to racially and ethnically diverse communities. My clinical experience spans various settings, including outpatient medical clinics, residential treatment programs, university counseling centers, and athletic teams.

While cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a cornerstone of my work, I integrate a range of therapeutic approaches to meet my clients where they are. Drawing from emotion-focused therapy, exposure-response prevention, brainspotting, and internal family systems, I help clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, phobias, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship concerns, life transitions, and more. My goal is to create a space that centers your lived experience, fosters resilience, and supports meaningful growth.

You are the expert of your own story. I am here to walk alongside you, offering guidance, understanding, and encouragement as you move toward healing and empowerment. Taking the first step toward therapy is a powerful act of self-care, and if you choose to work with me, we will create a space that prioritizes your autonomy, safety, and well-being.
